Kitchen Tool Tuesday

This past week I posted about launching Kitchen Tool Tuesday a/k/a KTT.  I thought it would be a fun way for other to share their trusty kitchen and cooking tools.

Growing up I frequently helped my mother in the kitchen and she regularly cooked with onions, which is a habit I seem to have followed.  Well she taught me that the best way to get the smell of onions, garlic or fish off your hands was to wash them and rub them on metal.  After handling onions she would always wash her hands and then rub them on the facet. Well I thought until recently that this was common knowledge, until I got a metal soap bar. “What? A metal soap bar?” ….. Yes. I have one of these nifty tools sitting next to my kitchen sink and everyone that has come over and seen it has asked me what it was.  When I tell them what it is for the response is, “I never heard of that.”  If you are like me and frequently cook with onions are garlic this tool is a must have.  It gets that rank smell out your hands and the bar never melts away. :)

Have you ever heard of this trick?  What tools do you have in your kitchen?
