Fig Tart

Fig Tart

I have never eaten much less made anything with figs.  Yesterday I was at the grocery store and I came across them.  I have seen many pictures of recipes that used figs, so I decided that I should give it a try.  I did try them stuffed with some Gorgonzola and wrapped with prosciutto…..Yummy.  But i decided to make a sweet treat too.

I kept it really simple.

Mascarpone & Fig Tart

  • 8 oz of Mascarpone
  • 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 sheet of phyllo dough (I used a pre made pie crust, it was in my freezer)
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • abt 12 figs cut in quarters
  • 1 TBS of honey

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Put your crust in the oven to bake, keep an eye on it.  I don’t remember how long I put it in the oven.

Whip together the mascarpone, heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar.

When crust is ready remove and let cool.  Once cool put cheese mixture into the crust. Arrange figs on top.  Heat honey over stove and drizzle over figs.  Refrigerate until firm and serve.

It was quite yummy and Hubby is now a fan of figs.
